Ontginning van potensiaal - Unlocking potential

The South African Council for Business Women is a Christian-founded
business and career women's organisation which offers membership to corporate
women, professional women and entrepeneurs, and aims to promote the business
interests of its members and the economy of our country in general
.

Objectives

  1. To act and be accepted by all government
bodies as the mouthpiece of members.
  2. To influence government policy and community attitudes proactively in matters affecting members and in the promotion of a
    market-orientated economic system.
  3. By formal and informal liaison, to coordinate views of members and present these effectively to the government and other relevant decisionmakers.
  4. By means of a data bank of advisory services and information, to establish immediate contact between members and institutions and authorities concerned so that problems can be solved.
  5. To liaise with other organisations in the interests of the South African business community and to undertake and carry out common projects where appropriate.
  6. To promote communication and contact between members and the Board of Management.
  7. To increase the share that women have in the business sector and to strengthen the inherent character and culture of the Council.
  8. To promote entrepeneurship and create awareness among the general public and the young entrepeneurs in particular, of the advantages of a market-orientated economic system.

Advantages of Membership

  • Members can use the Council as a vehicle for networking and marketing, and in this way expand and strengthen their organisations.
  • The Council creates its own platform for socialising without prejudice in a business environment dominated by men.
  • Opportunities are provided for the business woman to develop in her own right.
  • A wide range of knowledge and advice is available to members.
  • Regular business-orientated workshops and self-development seminars are presented.
  • The Council can be used as a mouthpiece by means of which women can exercise an influence on their environment.

Annual Projects

  • Entrepeneur Business Woman of the Year Competition.
  • National Congress and Gala Reception.
  • Entrepeneurs Week.  For one week in June projects are undertaken for the sole purpose of promoting entrepeneurship.
  • "Be a Winner" seminars help the business woman to continue functioning productively and effectively amidst all the changes.
