Refuse Bags
The Health Department appeals to all residents to use good quality refuse bags. Only bags of 750 x 950 mm size and 55 micrometer thickness may be used for refuse removal.
Refuse bags which conform to the above requirements can be purchased at the main library and branch libraries, as well as at the offices of the Health Department.
You are kindly requested not to place refuse bags out on the pavement at any time, but only on the specific weekday as applicable to your suburb, before 07:00 on that morning. Bags of refuse are often placed on the pavement days before the collection day - this not only looks untidy, but the bags are frequently torn open by stray dogs resulting in tremendous littering. Cleaning away such litter is not the responsibility of the municipal workers, but of the resident.
With your co-operation, the Health Department trusts that complaints of this nature will be kept to a minimum.
In case of stay away actions the Council will, when possible give notice of such action.
