Domestic consumers: The consumer should appoint a registered electrical contractor who should report the work at the Electricity Department inspectorate. Tel: 671-7554 or 671-7358.
The contractor should apply in writing on the prescribed form, for a service connection, after which the cost of the connection will be calculated. Connecting fees should be paid at least three weeks before the connection is required.Once a final certificate of approval has been issued to the contractor, and the final building and sewerage inspections have been completed, a supply contract should be entered into with the Treasury Department, and a deposit paid at the Treasury Department, Die Hoewes Complex, Cor. Basden Avenue and Rabie Streets, Lyttelton.

Large consumers: For electricity supply to large consumers such as shops, blocks of flats, industries, etc, written application should be made and full details of the electrical installation and load supplied. Application forms can be obtained from the Town Electrical Engineer, Die Hoewes Complex, Tel: 671-7554.
